My friend Elizabeth recently asked me for a muffin recipe. I had to think about that one for a minute because it’s been a while since I’ve made any. But it didn’t take me long to dig out one of my favorites. This is one for lemon blueberry buttermilk muffins. And since I’m sharing it with her, I’m going to share them with you as well. Long Run Cake
I just started watching the second season of ‘The Walking Dead,’ and is it just me, or are the zombies now faster and smarter? The thing I don’t get about zombies is how they run so fast as undead when they probably weren’t runners when they were alive. I know, details. Personally, I don’t run very far on an empty stomach so I need to fuel up before heading out the door for a run.

Fearless Friday – 10 Tips For New Runners
One of my awesome readers asked me recently if I had tips for someone who’s just starting to run. Do I?! Running is a great form of exercise that lets you get outside and is a great confidence builder. But like anything else, there are a few things you should know before you start out. Here’s my own list of tips for new runners. I wish I knew some of these when I started out a few years ago.

Six Grain Bread
You know that moment when you take something out of the oven and it’s looks exactly the way it should? That squeal moment that puts a big smile on your face! That’s what I had when this bread came out of the oven. It looked so perfect and pretty! You have to love it when a recipe works exactly the way it’s supposed to the first time. With that, I give to you this recipe for Six Grain Bread. Continue reading “Six Grain Bread”

Foodbuzz – The Top 9

I was not having a good night on Saturday. I mixed up my long and short run days and I knew I’d have to squeeze a 14K run in on Sunday on top of being in the kitchen all day (that’s 8.69 miles for the non-metric folks). Throw in the possibility of rain and I began channeling my inner Eeyore. Continue reading “Foodbuzz – The Top 9”
Sweet Ginger Shrimp with Dill and Quinoa
I can’t believe it’s June already! Part of me is looking forward to summer but the other part of me wishes I had eaten better over the past few months. Hot weather means less clothing and it’s hard to cover up, if you know what I mean. Vanity aside, running long distances with extra weight isn’t easy either. It can be hard on your joints and you use more energy to run fast. This month is a good time to start eating clean so you can fit into that new swimsuit. So let’s kick things off with a recipe using quinoa. Continue reading “Sweet Ginger Shrimp with Dill and Quinoa”
Strawberry basil scones
My friend Debra is over in the UK on a business trip of sorts: not like the business trip I wrote about last week. She’s got a tour guide and is touring the local sights. However, she does have 20+ students with her so there’s probably a bit of wrangling and babysitting involved. But she’s a tough girl and I know she can handle them and anything else thrown her way! Including the scones recipes she was baking up before she left. Now it seems like I see recipes for scones everywhere along with recipes for strawberries … Can you guess what’s coming next? Continue reading “Strawberry basil scones”
Foodie Penpal – Reveal Day
I can’t believe it’s already the end of May. Where has the month gone? I feel like I was just making plans for Mother’s Day not too long ago. Oh well. You know the saying about time flying, so I must be having fun. Anyway, this month, I got involved in the Foodie Penpal program which was started by Lindsay over at The Lean Green Bean. Since it’s the end of the month, today is the reveal day! Continue reading “Foodie Penpal – Reveal Day”
